I'm joining Sherry and other bloggers for In My Kitchen monthly blog share hosted by Sherry's Pickings where any blogger can join in!
Other than soup, flowers, and jam- not much new in February In My Kitchen.
This is what has been going on in my kitchen this past month.
Roses !! They have been my newest items this past month.
We have a "flower man" who sells fresh beautiful roses every Friday directly from his van that he picks up directly from the airport flown in from Ecquador.
The cost is only $20 for 2 dozen gorgeous roses (you must buy 2 dozen). I keep a dozen for me and give a dozen away!
- One week I presented a dozen of these beautiful roses to new neighbors that just moved in
- one week we were invited for dinner and I brought a dozen roses
- one week I shared with a single older woman for Valentine's Day!
- It's been fun and of course I have still have dozen beautiful roses for myself.
Spaghetti squash has become a staple on my menu. It's fairly reasonable in Florida. I make it once weekly in the air-fryer recipe post on spaghetti squash link. It's good for two meals for me. I top it with a little vegan cheese, sautéed mushrooms and or tofu.
Loaded Quinoa Salad
We always enjoy a quinoa salad with the works: tomato, scallions, artichoke hearts, spinach, chickpeas. With a bowl of soup, it's a wonderful plant-based and gluten-free meal.
This black fig jam is from a specialty store. My husband is into jam.
Green Beans and Tomatoes:
I made some green beans in the Instant Pot on zero minutes, released steam, and gave them an ice bath to keep them nice and green.
Roses again !!
Soup's On
Regardless of the weather (unless it's extremely humid an extremely hot), I love soup and make some soup every week. We enjoyed black bean topped with avocado and a squeeze of lemon, leek and chickpea soup, and Red lentil Vegetable Soup . All plant-based hearty high protein soups! ReplyDeleteI do like to give my green beans a bath in ice to keep them bright green
DeleteJust reading about your meals and seeing the photos has made me so hungry. I just finished breakfast about 8 am so I'm not eating anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteI find photos of food will do that to me too.
DeleteYour roses are so pretty! So good of you to share them with the people around you. You have been cooking many delicious meals. You know, I really miss figs just plain. The black fig jam sounds really good. The loaded salad looks amazing. It must be warm in Florida right now. The sun is shining here too lately, but we may still get some cold weather this month.

ReplyDeleteI do love fresh flowers and especially at that special affordable price.
DeleteThe flowers in your kitchen look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIf you eat foods like quinoa salad, spaghetti squash and soups for 4 days, I think that make up for 3 days of restaurant food :). Enjoy your winters in Florida.
I forgot to mention what we eat as snacks!!
Deletesuch a pretty kitchen!! we have been living on soup, we really enjoy it with a chunk of crusty bread. you have been quite busy and have shared some really nice looking recipes. i like what you do with the roses, that is so thoughtful! have a happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI make a pot of soup each week and we eat it for days.
DeleteNow I'm hungry! So many tasty meals from your kitchen. I wish we had cheap, fresh flowers readily available here. I think a kitchen is always so much more appealing with fresh flowers on display.
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa
