In My Kitchen - July 2024

Welcome to the July edition of "In My Kitchen" hosted by Sherry at Sherry's Pickings. I'm happy to invite you into my kitchen once again to see some new additions that have found their way into my domain during the past month.

I'm back in my home in my Bucks County, Pa for the summer where I have a lot more space in a larger kitchen than in Florida.  I've been wanting a serving cart to keep on my deck for a long time. I finally found this one at Home Goods! I still need to buy wheels to make it a little more mobile and a little higher.

Amazing Find!!
I've always wanted a Breville juicer, which for centrifugal juicers is probably top of the line. It runs about $179 on Amazon but I got it at an estate sale for $8 !!! The owner said she used it a few times for a juice fast and then never again. She is moving to the other side of the country, and she said it wasn't going with her. Since most people who shop estate sales are looking for antiques, no one seemed to want this. It works perfectly and is in perfect condition. I've juiced vegetable juice for breakfast with an added apple for the past 4 days!

I love this new melamine bowl for serving outdoors on the deck! It is actually on a pedestal and I'm keeping it my counter with fruit when not in use for the deck.

This beautiful bowl I purchased  for indoor serving. Again, I've been keeping it on the counter for fruits and vegetables .

It's been hot (temps near 98 degrees), and we have been having watermelon almost everyday to cool off and hydrate! The melons have been running really sweet ! We love making this drink (photo art the beginning of this post) Blissful watermelon limeade- with or without alcohol!

Oh! No!! Broken Glass Everywhere!!
After a big mishap last week when the wind picked up and was blowing pretty strong, we forgot to close our umbrella which was sitting in the hole in the middle of our glass table top. Well, the umbrella blew up in the air and with it our glass table top shattered into a million + pieces. Thus we needed a new glass top. Instead we decided to buy a new table set. I love this new beautiful teak wood set and matching chairs. The set is by Martha Stewart.

No more glass table tops for us!!

  3. I adore those bowls and your new outdoor table setting - such a pity you had to have a disaster first though (I'm shuddering as I imagine cleaning up the glass!).

    1. I also picked up a dehydrator last summer for $5 that is brand new never used. They said they couldn't figure out what to dehydrate and just never opened it.

  7. oh yes that new table setting is a winner. I do not like glass table tops so this is definitely more my taste :) Watermelon is such a fab thing for summer. We buy big wedges and cut it up and whack it in the fridge. Great deal on the juicer! Fabulous bowls too. Thanks for joining in this month.

    1. Thanks Mae- I do like a good find at a garage sale or estate sale and I've gotten lots of quality things. Mostly for the yard such as planters, tools, etc.

  9. I'm in love with your patio set and your bowls. I think glass tables should be banned, the same thing happened to me. I went for wicker as I couldn't afford real wood. Well done on getting such a big bargain with your juicer, if it works it's well worth it. Finally, who can resist watermelon in warm weather, my mouth is watering just looking at your photos.

    1. After our experience, I'm with you on banning glass. So scary. I didn't mention that we gt the beautiful teak wood table at 1/2 price sale for end of the season.

  14. That is a really nice table and chairs, and I love the wood on it. The bowls are so pretty, and the design in the first one reminds me of a hot plate that I bought, with the bottom saying Turkey. I love those patterns from different places in the world. Looks like you're all set for the summer days. I keep wanting to get watermelon at the store, but forget. And isn't Home Goods the best?

Happy July! What a delightful post this was.

  19. I know I left a comment, but it seems to have disappeared. This seems to be happening quite a lot.
Anyway, I admired your pretty bowls and thought your juicer was a perfect bargain. I love water melon :-)

  20. Wow that is a lot of watermelon consumption! It is such a great way to cool down in summer. Love how you have given love to an abandoned juicer! And that table is just lovely - hope it will be more sturdy than the glass table - the thought of all that shattered glass sounds awful!

  21. I love watermelon, I hope you enjoy the juicer and here's to enjoying non-glass tables!

  22. What a mess cleaning up that glass must have been. Your new table is beautiful, and the chairs look very comfortable. Blue and white dinnerwear is my favorite.
