My Florida kitchen is much smaller and completely different than my Pennsylvania kitchen.
I have some lovely pottery here that I really enjoy using for company.

It's a small (but not tiny) kitchen. It's large enough to prep and cook in, but it is not an eat-in kitchen . The countertops and backsplash are dark gray quartz, which I'm thinking about changing to a brighter white marble-type look with some gold streaks or designs (It will also be quartz).
We eat on the table outside of the kitchen where have a nice view of the ocean through the sliding glass doors in the attached bright open living room.
On the back wall of the kitchen which you could not see in the first photo, I have a low Ikea long cabinet with storage and a glass table top.
I was able to find some good tropical fruits in Florida. We love mango, papaya, and pomegranate.
We also have a large mirror that we hung on the wall because there are no windows in my kitchen and the mirror brings in some of the light from the living/dining room area which is bright and cheerful.
I've only been here about a week, so I haven't done a full grocery shopping or real cooking yet.
We've been eating a lot of salads and bean dishes and have had dinner invites at people's homes for two dinners this past week. And one for next week.

Of course I have a copy of my soups cookbook in my kitchen
which contains over 80 delicious and easy soup recipes arranged by season.

ReplyDeleteYour Florida kitchen looks very lovely and useful. Having a view of the sea in your apartment is really luxurious! When my sister-in-law lived in Boynton Beach she was MILES from the water.

OK I was writing a comment and it went completely away so if it published, please delete! I am a klutz with a keyboard. I was saying that I love it that you wrote a cookbook. Also I have a stool just like yours and it lives in my kitchen. I think your kitchen will look great with a lighter color quartz. Can't wait to see it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful soup bowls! I always think one day when I grow up (whatever grow up means!) I'll have quirky bowls from everywhere that remind me of places I've been, but the reality is I keep moving around and donating many things! Maybe one day when I grow up ;)

ReplyDeleteYour salad looks delicious! I used to live in FL and there was a farmer's market and I could buy the best fruit there. I never find fruit that delicious where I live now. Thanks for visiting.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be able to have a different kitchen to go to during the winter. I could certainly do with setting up something completely opposite to what I have here at home. I love your dishes, and the freshness of the look. Enjoy your time in Florida.

ReplyDeleteYour Florida home looks lovely, you are very well organised for only being in there 1 week. The bowls are very pretty, and I love the look of your chickpea salad. I must soak some of my dried ones and make a salad with them. Enjoy your home by the sea, and away from the Winter.
