Typically, I join in with Sherri (at Sherry's Pickings) and other bloggers to share what's IN MY KITCHEN at the beginning of each month.
Here is what I have for the beginning of October.
I picked up this gluten-free pumpkin spice granola bark at Trader Joe's. It was one of my first pumpkin flavored foods this season. It was quite tasty and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
My husband is obsessed with pickled lemons
and eats them with everything.
I found this cute little retro sugar container. It reminded me of the sugar bowl we had on the table when I was growing up. I don't really use sugar, but I bought it anyway for the pleasnat memories.
I have started to harvest the herbs that I grow on my deck all summer, and I am drying them out. So far I have filled two large ziplock bags and am still drying. They will taste great all winter!
This is a delightful tea blend from Stash. We have been
enjoying it during the 5 days of cooler rainy weather. Now
the temperatures are back in the 80's and I'll be putting the tea on hold. Fall? Where are you?
I'm reading a book by the Medical Medium on smoothies and juices for neurological, autoimmune, and mental health. Anthony William covers many detox recipes as well as nourishing recipes for aging and mental health. It is a large book and quite intense. It also contains many plant-based food recipes such as roasted tomato soup with potato croutons, pot pie soup, chickpea dumpling soup, curry potato samosas, vegan baked mac and cheese, loaded crinkle fries, mushroom and herb millet risotto, etc.- all vegan and gluten free.
We had cooler weather for about a week so I made my butternut sage soup (link to recipe) which is delicious and a perfect fall recipe. Are you starting to make soup?
I've had these flowers on my table for almost two weeks now! They are actually drying out - not dying. They will probably last all winter if I wanted to keep them ( which I don't).
That's all I've got! Have a great month!
Lulu my grand cat!!
I love that you bought that sugar shaker for the memories, I too have several things in my house for that very reason. We don't have a Trader Joe's around here, but I sure enjoyed picking up a few things from time to time when we lived in WA stste.
ReplyDeletePickled lemons are so good!....I'm also drying herbs and making other recipes to keep my herbs for the winter!......Abrazotes, Marcela
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that sugar container? It's getting to be soup weather here in the UK and your pumpkin soup looks delish!
ReplyDeleteLove butternut soup! The soup cups are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love that sugar container and your bowls. So pretty. That sounds like a fascinating book. I'll look into it when I get some of my latest ones read. I'm leaning towards more and more veg. Luckily I don't have much of a sweet tooth. We had cooler weather for a week or so and then the last few weeks it has been warm again. It is supposed to change this weekend though. Soup weather is approaching. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThat book by Anthony William sounds so interesting (will see if my library has it) and love the idea of drying herbs, as those are two sustainable things I can do.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never heard of pickled lemons. I have to look them up!
ReplyDeleteThe butternut soup looks so beautiful in those bowls! -- I'm looking forward to soup weather really kicking in. Hopefully, soon. And that pumpkin spice granola bark? I think you may have inspired a trip to Trader Joe's!
ReplyDeletehi Judee thanks for joining in this month. Love that sugar container! Soup is not on the horizon till winter, as we are heading into a very hot dry and dangerous (bushfires) season. Darn that El Nino.
ReplyDeleteThat smoothie book looks very interesting. And I hope you find a good use for your beautiful sugar pot.

I always love seeing your colorful kitchen pics! And it's so cool that you found a retro sugar container that reminds you of your childhood. Things like that are so special. Enjoy! 🌈🌞
ReplyDeleteI overheard two workers at Trader Joe’s saying they didn’t know where a lot of stuff was because everything had to move to make room for all the pumpkin spice items. TJ’s really puts pumpkin or pumpkin spice in everything! I don’t generally buy it as I prefer pumpkin to be savory with other spice combos. Your soup sounds good.

When we were in the US earlier this year I was so excited by all the snacks at Trader Joe's! I also miss the pumpkin spice things in North America, to me it's the feeling of fall.. although this year it has been unseasonably warm in Paris and almost hard to believe it's fall. Your soup looks amazing, I've got a butternut at home waiting for the first soup of the season :)
