My new great niece, Ellie Marie, is one month old and in our tradition, that is when we have a baby naming ceremony to announce her name formally and say some prayers and blessings for her good health and entrance into the community.
read on about the party
This baby naming was not done by a clergy which is often the case. Instead the parents hosted a family dinner, looked online for a guide for the ceremony and did their own ceremony in their lovely dining room. There were 12 family members present for the ceremony and the dinner.
We had a lovely dinner (everyone brought a dish) and one of my nieces made the beautiful cake! To accommodate everyone (we have 3 gluten-free eaters and 1 vegan eater (me), one of nieces made a gluten-free vegan ice cream cake using coconut plant-based ice cream.
I asked the parents if I could put Ellie Marie's photo on the blog, and they preferred for me not to publish her photo-thus no photo of the adorable baby! I understand!
What a lovely, thoughtful occasion -- and a gorgeous table, too! Welcome to the world, Ellie Marie!
