Muffin tins are practical and can be used for more than just baking muffins. They are also ideal for serving and entertaining!
I'm sharing lots of ideas in this post!
How about serving your favorite crudités, dips, nuts, cherries, etc. in a muffin tin to company or your family?
A great idea especially with July 4th celebrations around the corner. Whether you are hosting or bringing an appetizer to a party, this idea will be perfect.
Use a smaller muffin tin for 6 and each person can have their own and not spread germs.
Simply fill your favorite muffin tin with a variety of one or two dips, cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, baby carrots, sliced radishes, olives, red or yellow pepper strips, pretzels, etc.
I USE LOWFAT DIPS
I try to use dips that are low in fat and even oil-free such as salsa or 365 brand black bean dip in a jar from Whole Foods which tastes delicious but in low in calories (25 calories per 2 TBSP) and has zero fat!
I also make an oil-free hummus (recipe link).
These kind of low fat or zero fat dips help make snacking healthier!
Mexican guacamole (recipe link) is another easy to make favorite (not low fat but contains a healthy plant based fat).
Muffin Tin Entertaining and Serving is Versatile And Time Saving.
In the past I've found other interesting ways to use my muffin tins such as for freezing and serving individual servings of ice cream or sorbet. It makes it a cinch to serve a group: All the scooping is already done and ready to serve right from the freezer. Also when the kids were young, I used 6 compartment muffin tins to serve snacks to my kids when they came home from school.
I filled them with pretzels, pop corn, cucumber slices, hummus, apple slices, olives, guacamole, corn chips etc. to give a variety of healthy snacks at a time they were hungry and tired.
Muffin Tin Mania:
Use for After School Snacks for kids, portion control for TV watching, serving guests.
I used a muffin tin for 6 and stuck to a theme.
- Guacamole, carrot slices, olives, corn chips, salsa.
- Chunks of cheese, sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes, pretzels.
- Trail mix, blueberries, strawberries, pop corn,
- Hummus, pita bread triangles, lebaneh (hung yogurt), crackers, olives,
- Apples slices, peanut butter, celery sticks, raisins, individual tangerine segments
- Pop corn, pretzels, raisins, grapes, etc.
- Muffin Tin Serving is appealing, easy, and fun! Try it for your next get together, snacking in front of the tv for portion control, or for your kids after school snacks!!

ReplyDeleteSomewhere along the years my muffin tins started looking kind of sad, and I think I gave them all away. It looks like a very good idea for keeping kids happy and showing them that they all got their fair share.
