Towards the end of the month, we will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah, The Jewish New Year, so I've rounded up all my favorite Rosh Hashanah serving pieces to share what's IN MY KITCHEN In this month.
The little honey dish is so cute too. The set was made by an artist.
I love this local raw honey which comes from a bee farm less than an hour away. The bee keeper is a good friend of my good friend Vicki!
Our holiday meals revolve around an apples and honey theme as well as pomegranates and dates which are meant to invite in a sweet New Year.
I usually serve small chocolate in little papers on this plate along with other dessert plates such as an apple cake and a fruit platter.
The following plate was a gift from my good friend Fay when she joined us for Rosh Hashanah dinner one year. It is one of my favorites. I use it on the holiday and display it in a china closet the rest of the year. It comes with a small honey dish that you will see next.
Here is the set together. I mix and match. If I use it in the beginning of the dinner for the prayer over apples and honey, I will later use it as a serving platter for kugel or vegetables.
We always keep a big bowl of apples out during the holiday and eventually slice them to dip in the honey.
The colorful little bowl with the bees is something I picked up at Homegoods. When I saw it, it reminded me of the holiday with the bees in the center. It's festive and I sometimes use it on the big platter too.
I use the yellow basket for apple muffins or mini apple cakes and usually line it with a Rosh Hashanah paper napkins.
I have these cocktail napkins for appetizers, and I have paper plates to match. One time at the end of Rosh Hashanah, a nearby supermarket marked them for clearance at .34 cents/pkg- there were paper plates, napkins, and cocktail napkins. I bought them all and have been using them for the past 5 years for the holiday. I think this may be my last package!! I've never seen anything like them again.

ReplyDeleteApples and honey are definitely part of my holiday memories from childhood. My mother often invited her sisters and other family members for an afternoon tea party, with cake too! Have a sweet new year.
