We just returned from 6 months in Florida, so I'll be sharing from my Pennsylvania kitchen this month.
I bought a fun serving spinner at Homegoods for outdoor serving. It holds quite a bit of vegetables, fruit, and there is room for dips too. It spins making it easy for guests to reach everything. I'll be using it outside on our deck!
Green Retro Bowls Filled With Watermelon-
This watermelon was perfect for hot humid weather. Yesterday was 90 degrees and this watermelon was cooling and refreshing. I love the green retro bowls.
BRIDAL SHOWER
We had a bridal shower at home on Sunday for my niece who has multiple food allergies. She is gluten free, nut free, and dairy free. We found a gluten free bakery that made made these beautiful GF and vegan donuts and her mom used Snyders gluten free pretzels and dipped them in melted chocolate and sprinkles. For the meal we served gluten free pizza with vegetable toppings and non dairy cheese (ordered from a specialty pizza store) and vegetarian sushi- it was a lot of fun and the bride could eat everything.
Kitchen Oven Mitt Pot Holders.
I like to start each season with clean fresh pot holder mitts for the kitchen. I seem to be into a blue theme this summer. These have a silicon liner for heat resistance and gripping.
Little Pots of Herbs- I visited a local nursery and selected a supply of herbs for summer growing. I'll grow them in small pots and they will keep me supplied in herbs the entire summer. I do this every summer and really enjoy snipping fresh herbs for recipes. I bought rosemary, green and purple basil, lemon thyme, sage, and spearmint. In addition I bought a stevia plant which is one of my favorites- the leaves are sweet and delicious.
Not all of the herbs I bought are in this photo |
Case of 12 Mangoes.
We love mangoes and it must be mango season somewhere because our local produce market is selling a case of 12 beautiful mangoes for only $6.99. Yes, we will eat them all or if we can't get to eat the entire case of 12, we peel, cut in slices, and freeze in baggies to use for smoothies.
I love the serving spinner you found, so cute and how much fun to use for a gathering! Your idea of fresh oven mitts regularly is brilliant, my pot holders get so nasty, out with the old and in with the new!
ReplyDeleteI love that serving spinner! (Why is it called spinner?) The pot holders are beautiful!

All the best Jan
As always, your kitchen is charming. Your new serving spinner is beautiful, as are your green retro fruit bowls. Finally, the bridal shower you threw for your niece looks amazing! That's incredible that you were able to get all of those goodies that met her dietary needs. I'm sure she was thrilled! :)

Nice serving spinner 😃!
ReplyDeletelove your blue spinner, what a great idea. And water melon, and candies - oh my! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThose donuts look amazing!! I'd definitely have tried one regardless of the fact that they are GF and vegan!!
ReplyDeleteAnd love your blue and white spinners. Gorgeous!
I love your blue spinner. I can see it full of toppings for tacos. Ever since I discovered the deliciousness of taco meat in lettuce leaves, I have been having tacos every week, piling them high with toppings. I also like your little pots of herbs. I have big pots of herbs, and love using them when I cook. I’m going to have to try to remember to make some big pots of vegetable stock this summer to make use of the fresh herbs. One herb that I have not been able to find is fresh dill. I have looked everywhere, and I have friends looking for me, and no one can find it. What is the deal with that?
ReplyDeleteThe pot holders are lovely! I try and get new potholders and towels now and then. Love the herbs. I have oregano overtaking a small bed right now but it's nice to pick it fresh.
