Unfortunately, with my limited photography skills and only my Ipad, I couldn't get a good shot because the beautiful bird was too high up! At first I wondered if it was a eagle, but then I realized it was some kind of a hawk.
I found these 2 professional photos online that looked pretty much like the bird that I saw on my neighbor's roof. (The photos are from a free site)-
Below is my sad photo. This is the best and closest photo that I could get.. It's a shame
He was up there for a long time and didn't seem to be intimidated by me. I was making noise, going in and out of the house, closing doors and he just sat and looked at me and didn't flinch!
Thanks cool!
ReplyDeleteI don't know the name of the bird..but look at those eyes...so vivid and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuch a magnificent bird. It almost sounds as if he enjoyed being your photo prop! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauty alright. It was pretty sure of itself too since it stayed so long in spite of your activity.
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated by raptors. What a treat for you to have a falcon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2020/08/big-batch-quick-dinner-rolls.html
amazing photos the falcon
ReplyDeleteWOWZA! What a gorgeous bird! The captures are stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that you couldn't get a clearer shot. I'm not convinced it is a Peregrine or even a falcon. I think it's a hawk, one that is probably fairly common in the area you live.
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome fella

That's a fabulous observation Judee. Blessings of nature alongside your walks. Thanks for making extra efforts to research and put some other clicks. Definitely looks like Falcon.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, whatever it is! Birds are fascinating! Teresa from NanaHood
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea of his size? I'm thinking a red-tailed hawk or a red-shouldered hawk. Regardless, it is a magnificent sight. He was patiently hunting from the vantage point of your roof. This should help: https://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/2011/04/19/falcon-or-hawk/ Thanks for posting, I love birds! -judith
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! You have some wonderful photos here. We have a lot of hawks, but I've never seen a falcon around.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a hawk of some sort .... your examples seem pretty close. What a sight to see!
