It's happened to me in the past, but no more. I learned that there is one simple household product that everyone has in the house that will not only remove the tarnish instantly, but it has worked better than the expensive polish cleaners that I have purchased in the past.

What's more is that commercially sold silver polish cleaners  contain harsh chemicals that are not healthy to use . Aside from the toxic smell, commercial silver polish also absorbs into your skin and into your body. Who wants that? 

This simple household product that I now use is safe, simple, and very inexpensive.

Yes, any kind of toothpaste works as well if not better than any silver polish I have tried.

I tried a variety of different kinds of toothpastes - gel, white cream, no fluoride, fluoride, all natural and regular 

It leaves the silver clean, shiny, and beautifully polished.

I put some toothpaste on a paper towel and rubbed it for a second or two over the spreaders 

The silverplate spoons and spreaders belonged to my mother. They had been in a drawer for years. When I took them out, I realized that I would need to do some heavy duty polishing. 

Then I remembered this simple tip. IT WORKED SO WELL that I would never go back to buying expensive commercial silver polish.

They all worked equally well - the gel, the white paste, the natural toothpaste, and the Crest, the Colgate. Each toothpaste took the tarnish off effortlessly and in seconds.
