Can Diabetes Be Reversed?

According to Dr. Sarah Hallberg of Indiana and Dr. Jason Fung of Cananda,  who are both diabetic medical doctors, Type 2 Diabetes can be reversed. These Board Certified medical doctors ( and many other doctors)  are able to take people off of insulin and medication using a different approach to eating and self care.

Too many people that I know are either pre-diabetic or have been diagnosed with full blown diabetes. The abundance and quality of American food is literally making people overweight and sick.

Statistics indicate that diseases like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure on the rise to astronomical numbers in the US, despite our sophisticated medical information and medical care.

One area that seems to always be in controversy is diet- the food we eat. What is the best way to eat? Does what, when, and how much we eat make a difference?

Those of us who buy gluten free breads, pizza, cookies, cakes, crackers, cereal, etc. need to be particularly interested. Just because these products are gluten free does not mean that they are low in calories, low in carbohydrates, or necessarily healthy.

I've linked 2 Youtube Videos that I think shed some important light on how to avoid becoming diabetic and how to reverse diabetes. Both videos are Excellent -

Not concerned about pre-diabetes or diabetesHow about obesity and weight loss?   The 2nd video also addresses why it is so difficult to lose weight and why so many people are obese. They are both worth watching.

If the information in these videos helps one person, I'll be satisfied!

Can you reverse Diabetes?
This is a must watch! It's by a doctor from Indiana- Sarah Hallberg who has reversed diabetes in hundreds of patients in her clinic and continues to do so. 18 minute video.. Also watch Dr. Fung's video below.

Dr. Jason Fung- a well known Canadian doctor who also is challenging the present way we treat diabetes an weight loss..

    1. I agree, but it is so hard to do. Sugar and Carbs are everywhere especially at parties, holidays, and celebrations! I can be good for months and then just one bite starts it all over again. It truly does feel like an addiction.

    2. It is an addiction and can be kicked like any addiction with the right supports.mibe been entirely sugar free, grain free too now for 2.5 years. I used some self hypnosis audios as well as addressing an underlying metabolic issue...for me that was pyroluria. My chronically low vitamin b6 issues were making me crave sugar also. Now I've been treating the b6/zinc issues I no longer crave sugar and empty carbs at all. I was not diabetic, or even pre diabetic, but I was overweight by 20+kg and developing all sorts of bad health problems! In my experience, it depends on how severe your diabetes is. If you're pre diabetic or newly diagnosed, you stand a good chance of complete reversal, but those further along, it won't be reversed, but they will be able to stop the progress and come, off all medications by following a low carb, moderate good fat diet. You CANNOT heal a type 2 diabetic pancreas, but you CAN stop the disease progressing and the bodies reliance on medications if you change your diet. That's the important part.

  2. Diabetes really is a big concern over here in the UK too, Judee. My sister in law has very serious diabetes with complications and needs medication but she does find she needs much less when she is careful with her diet. It's encouraging to see that these doctors have had such success in reversing this devastating diagnosis. Thank you for sharing this important post with us at the Hearth and Soul Hop.

  4. I haven't watched the videos but I am doing the Cambridge diet and am in fact a consultant and recent studies with the NHS have shown that doing the diet, changing your eating habits and losing weight can in fact reverse type 2 diabetes. Great post. Thanks for linking up to #memyselfandI
